The most expensive parking space in the UK has gone on sale today for an asking price of £350,000. The eye watering price tag makes it one and a half times more expensive than the average UK house price.

The parking place measures just 19.5ft by 8ft but occupies prime real estate and is located just behind Hyde Park Gardens in London.

The space is listed with property consultants Knight Frank who describe it as “a rare opportunity to purchase a private parking space for one car, located behind the prestigious Hyde Park Gardens and ideally located for the transport links of the M1.” It adds that it is: "perfectly positioned for the arrival of Crossrail in 2018."

It is believed that the most expensive UK car parking space in history is one which sold in South Kensington for £480,000. However, a central Manhattan parking space is believed to hold the world title for the most costly car space after it sold for $1 million.

According to recently released government data, the average house price in the UK is £191,812.
