Murder charges

Two men were charged at a special court in Coleraine, Northern Ireland, with the murder of two Protestants last Sunday. Patrick Kelly, 29, and Liam Averill, 29, both of Maghera, Co Derry, were accused of shooting Alan Smith, 40, and John McCloy, 28, in Garvagh, Co Londonderry. They were remanded in custody to appear at a court in Belfast on 20 May.
