A disgruntled woman showed a man the full force of her wrath when he refused to buy her an ice cream, by allegedly dousing his vehicle in gasoline and setting it on fire in front of terrified diners.

Customers at the Southside branch of McDonald's in Jacksonville reported seeing a couple arguing over what to eat at 12.30am on Sunday morning, Florida news network WTEV 47 have reported.

Witnesses to the incident told the network the woman reacted with fury when the man she was with refused to purchase a McFlurry for her.

Diner Sabryna Maré, who claims she was behind the couple in the queue for food, told WTEV: "She was saying she wanted this and wanted that, and she wanted either a McFlurry or an ice cream on top and he was not in for it. Then he was yelling at her saying he's not going to do it."

She said the unidentified woman then grabbed the man’s keys and headed to his vehicle, where she proceeded to pour gasoline and alcohol on the car before setting it on fire.

"She got something out of the car that happened to be a bottle and then she got gasoline from who knows where. Then she poured everything all over it and next thing you know there was a match and it was up in flames," Ms Maré explained.

The woman sped off through the car park as the car became quickly engulfed in flames. Firefighters had to be dispatched to the scene to extinguish the blaze.

A Jacksonville Fire and Rescue incident report said the vehicle was a 1994 El Dorado. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
