South Korean navy commandos rescued all 21 crew aboard a chemical ship hijacked by Somali pirates in the Arabian Sea.

The 11,500-tonne chemical freighter, the Samho Jewelry, was seized on 15 January after it left the UAE en route to Sri Lanka. Seoul ordered a destroyer on patrol in the Gulf of Aden to give chase.

Eight pirates were killed and five captured in the raid, and the ship's captain was shot in the stomach.
