Sacked French worker kills six
BESANCON, FRANCE (AFP) - A man shot and killed six people and wounded five others at a factory in Besancon yesterday, then committed suicide, police said. They said the 25-year-old man had been fired two months ago from the Bourgois machine-tool factory which employs about 500 people and specializes in precision cutting.
Police said the man arrived at the plant with a hostage and began shooting as soon as he entered the workshop before turning the weapon on himself.
