Zac Posen designs apartments
In what could possibly be the first major real estate-design collaboration since the economy crashed in the US, fashion designer Zac Posen will open his first New York condo development in March.
As reported by The Real Deal magazine, Posen is working together with Morris Adjmi Architects for a condo consisting of nine lofts as well as a duplex and a penthouse triplex, located at 16 West 21st Street.
Inspired by "mixing decorative whimsical gestures with clean, 21st century high design," Posen told the magazine that "I see the recession as an opportunity to get into new ventures," adding however that "I have very expensive taste."
The designer, whose aim is to "invoke desire - and bring some warmth and regality to industrial New York City" with his apartments, will officially open the building on March 18. Residential agents Prudential Douglas Elliman's Hagay Azoulay will start selling the apartments early next month.
