Derbyshire’s Chesney Hughes brings Yorkshire down at Headingley
Yorkshire’s elation at beating Durham on Saturday was punctured as Derbyshire’s Chesney Hughes and Wayne Madsen put them to the sword at Headingley on Monday.
Hughes, left out of Derbyshire’s last game, made his first century in the Championship since July 2011 going on to finish the day on a career-best 171 not out. Dropped by wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow on 70, Hughes went on to share a stand of 258 with his captain, Madsen, who hit 93, as Derbyshire made 302 for 4.
Somerset’s Craig Kieswetter will be out for six weeks after breaking a finger against Warwickshire, which is likely to rule him out of playing for England in the Champions Trophy.
