Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will face a test on Saturday to see if he is fit for Arsenal's match at Liverpool on Sunday, while manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that Theo Walcott and Nacho Monreal both have a "slight chance" of featuring.

However, Aaron Ramsey is likely to miss the game at Anfield and could miss the entirety of the festive fixture list.

"I am scared he (Ramsey) will miss the Christmas period," Wenger said at his Friday press conference.

"He should be back at the end of December, [or] beginning of January."

Oxlade-Chamberlain was replaced in injury time during Arsenal's 4-1 win over Newcastle last Saturday, after aggravating a groin strain.

"There's a slight chance of Monreal being available and a very slight chance for Walcott. We hope that Oxlade-Chamberlain will be fit. We'll see that on Saturday," Wenger sai.

"That's what we’ll see on Saturday after a test. He's not in training at the moment."

Oxlade-Chamberlain has been one of the Gunners' standout performers this season, and he is badly needed with the Wenger's midfield desperately short of numbers at the moment - Jack Wilshere, Tomas Rosicky, Aaron Ramsey and Mikel Arteta are all out.

Walcott could be back on the bench as he continues his recovery from an anterior cruciate ligament injury. He made two brief appearances for the club last month.

"[Walcott] is back in training today [Thursday]," Wenger said. "But only today. I might take him, I don’t know yet until he’s back to full training. Let’s see."

Elsewhere on the injury front for Arsenal, £42.5m record-signing Mesut Ozil has he is closing in on his return.

The 26-year-old has been sidelined since October after suffering knee injury, but says he will soon return to training.

"I am working every day to get myself fit and I am on the right path now," the Germany international told the club's official website. "It won't be much too much longer before I am back on the pitch.

"I hope to be back training with the whole team again as soon as possible."
