Manchester United came agonisingly close to retaining their Premier League title only to have it snatched away in the final seconds of the Premier League season.
In the end, United finished the season trophy-less, and for a club with astronomical expectations - a repeat of that next season won't be good enough.
After a relatively frugal few years, expect manager Alex Ferguson to spend this summer.
