Stelios returns to Greece

Euro 2004 winner Stelios Giannakopoulos has left Hull to return to Greek football with Larissa.

The 34-year-old former Bolton midfielder parted company with the club last night after failing to make an impact at the KC Stadium.

Giannakopoulos joined Hull in September in the hope of resurrecting his international career but started just one game and made two further appearances off the substitutes' bench.

Giannakopoulos has agreed a one-and-a-half year deal with Larissa.

A club statement read: "He has made Larissa his sixth club in a career which has seen him perform at the highest level for the last 15 years."

Giannakopoulos made his name with Greek giants Olympiacos before joining Bolton in 2003.

He was released by the Trotters last summer and was out of the game until agreeing to join Hull until the end of the season.

It took him almost two months, however, to make the bench for the first time due to injury and a lack of match fitness and he did not impress in his only start against Newcastle in the FA Cup earlier this month.
