Basketball: Injury forces Jordan to ponder future
Michael Jordan may be forced to bring down the curtain on his illustrious career. The Washington Wizards shooting guard sustained a knee injury which made him miss more than 20 games last season.
Jordan, who won six National Basketball Association titles with the Chicago Bulls, told an American sports broadcaster: "The one thing I don't want to do is go into the season dealing with the pain I dealt with last year. I'm really being very cautious and making sure I can play a full season. If I do play, it will be a last-minute decision." The 39-year-old is in the final season of a two-year contract.
However, several sources close to Jordan and the team have said that he will return to his role as president of basketball operations. His status as part-owner remains uncertain, though, because he has divested himself of ownership shares in order to play, as required by NBA rules.
