The world was watching - and tweeting - as Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao settled their score at the MGM Grand hotel in Las Vegas last night.

A lot of viewers took to the social network during the 'Fight of the Century' and Twitter have now released statistics and datasets to show just how people across the globe responded to Mayweather's points victory.

The undefeated champion did not only win the fight but also the social media war, receiving 3.4 million mentions to Pacquaio's 1.6 million.

However, it was Pacquiao's tweets that captured people's imaginations. His selfie with his entourage during the walk-in and a Periscope video from inside the locker room proved to be extremely popular.

The debate peaked as the fight came to and end, with the verdict and post-fight interviews being the night's most-tweeted moments.

As for in-fight moments, viewers' excitement picked up when Pacquiao landed a number of punches at the end of the fourth round.

It wasn't just the folks at home who felt the need to broadcast their thoughts on the fight. Celebrities in attendance at the star-studded event also tweeted their reactions. Some, especially Mike Tyson, were not too pleased with what they'd seen.
