Cycling: Giro d'Italia can 'unite Ireland'

Next year's Giro d'Italia will begin in Northern Ireland and Ireland, it was announced yesterday. The three-week race will start on 10 May in Belfast then pass through Dublin and Armagh on 11 and 12 May.

The Giro director general, Michele Acquarone, said he hopes the race can "unite the entire island of Ireland." It will mark the 11th Giro start on foreign territory.
