Racing: Tailor called to attend Jockey Club hearing
Christopher Coleman, a London tailor and punter, is due to face the Jockey Club's disciplinary panel on 22 January. Coleman is alleged to have given jockeys presents in return for information. He may appear in person.
Earlier this year, immediately following the lifting of reporting restrictions on court proceedings in June, the Jockey Club announced its intention to bring disciplinary proceedings against certain people.
Of those, Coleman's case is the only one yet to be heard. The hearings of five others were held in London on 13 December, with the panel imposing bans lasting up to 20 years from all race tracks and premises owned, licensed or controlled by the Jockey Club.
Brian Brendan Wright was excluded from all Jockey Club licensed premises indefinitely. The panel also ruled that no application for the lifting of such an order could be considered before January 2023.
His son, Brian Anthony Wright, was also excluded from all licensed premises indefinitely, with no application for the lifting of such an order to be considered before January 2015.
A former jockey, Barrie Wright (no relation), was excluded from all licensed premises indefinitely, with no application for the lifting of such an order to be considered before January 2018.
Ian Kiernan and Paul Shannon were also warned off from all racing premises indefinitely, with no application for the lifting of such an order to be considered before January 2013.
