Colin Montgomerie on speeding charge
Golfer Colin Montgomerie is due to appear in court today accused of speeding.
Montgomerie, 45, allegedly broke a 40mph speed limit in his Bentley in Kingston upon Thames, south west London, in March.
He will be represented by solicitor Nick Freeman, dubbed "Mr Loophole" because of the number of clients he has helped beat traffic fines.
Montgomerie is expected to enter a plea at the hearing at Feltham Magistrates' Court, west London.
The Glaswegian, known as Monty, has been a professional golfer since 1987 and was number one in Europe for seven years from 1993.
After his much-publicised divorce in 2006, father-of-three Montgomerie married Gaynor Knowles, widow of furniture tycoon George Knowles, earlier this year.
