JIMMY CASE RETIRES THROUGH INJURY

Football

Jimmy Case, the 41-year-old former Liverpool midfielder, has announced his retirement from playing, after suffering a neck injury in training this week.

Simon Webster, the 31-year-old West Ham defender, has retired after failing to recover from a broken leg suffered in a training-ground collision with Julian Dicks.

Manchester City's out-of-favour Dutch defender, Michel Vonk, has turned down a loan move to Oldham.

Stoke and Norwich have agreed an exchange deal between strikers which would reunite Keith Scott with his former Wycombe manager, Martin O'Neill, and take the ex-Manchester City player Mike Sheron to the Potteries.
