Britain's Naomi Folkard missed out on a place in the quarter-finals of the individual archery after losing 106-97 to Japan's Nami Hayakawa.

Folkard trailed by two after the first end but a disastrous second end saw her score just 19 out of the 30 points on offer and she was always facing an uphill battle from thereon in, with the result secured before Hayakawa's last arrow.

Peter Cousins was knocked out in the preliminary round of the men's -100kg judo, losing on a golden point to Georgia's Levan Zhorzholiani, while Michelle Rogers was also beaten, losing to Gyeongmi Jeong of Korea.

Both must now wait to see how their opponents fair in the next round before discovering if they will have a chance to fight for bronze in the repechage.

Shooter Elena Little failed to reach the final of the women's skeet after letting a bright start slip.

She hit 24 out of 25 targets in the first round, but scores of 21 in rounds two and three were only enough for 14th place, three points and eight places away from a spot in the final.
