POINT-TO-POINT: Red Brook Lad can follow up on favourite course

TODAY'S Vale of Clettwr meeting at Erw Lon in Wales is off as is tomorrow's Harkaway Club fixture at Chaddesley Corbett. Both courses are waterlogged and new dates will be applied for.

The two meetings are the first casualties of what has, so far, been a benign season. There are no problems at today's other two meetings or at the Easton Harriers at High Easter in Essex tomorrow. Larkhill, on Salisbury plain, can absorb any amount of rain and the going is still good there for today's United Services card. The afternoon's feature is the Coronation Cup (1.40), a mixed open, in which Red Brook Lad can follow up last month's course win. Well handled by Rilly Goschen that day, Red Brook Lad produced a strong run from three out and Larkhill seems to bring out the best in him.

Another course specialist, Mr Splodge, should go close on his reappearance in either the confined (12.0) or the mixed open (12.35) at Kingston Blount today. Trained locally by Lawney Hill, Mr Splodge has won four times on this undulating course and it would have been five if he had not unshipped his rider two out in 2003.

FIXTURES: TODAY: Oxford University Club at Kingston Blount. (First race 12.0). 8m north-west of High Wycombe. Exits 5 or 6 M40. United Services at Larkhill. (12.30). 5m north-west of Amesbury; 10m north of Salisbury; near A303, A345 & A360. POSTPONED: (waterlogged): Vale of Clettwr (Erw Lon). TOMORROW: Easton Harriers at High Easter. (12.0). 8m north-west of Colchester, near A1060, exit 8, M11. POSTPONED: (waterlogged): Harkaway Club (Chaddesley Corbett).
