Alfred 'Cobra' Kotey retained his World Boxing Organisation bantamweight title with victory over Mexico's Amando Castro at Middlesbrough Town Hall last night. The London- based Ghanaian won a unanimous points decision over his more experienced opponent.

Fabrice Tiozzo, of France, retained his European light-heavyweight title yesterday when he stopped Britain's Maurice Core in the fourth round of gheir fight in Besancon, France.

Frank Bruno has declined an offer of a world heavyweight title fight with Oliver McCall in Britain this January. Bruno's manager, Mickey Duff, said it was out of the question as Bruno is contracted to meet Ray Mercer in a non-title fight in December.

Robert McCracken, the British light- middleweight champion, has pulled out of the second defence of his title against Carlo Colarusso, of Wales, on 9 November following the stabbing of his brother, Maxwell, a former boxer, in a Birmingham wine bar last weekend.
