Did they really split up? Rory McIlroy calls Caroline Wozniacki his 'girl' in tweet after she won the Luxembourg Open
McIlroy himself finished second in Korea on fine sporting day for pair

Rory McIlroy has given a strong hint that he and Caroline Wozniacki are still very much an item, despite last week’s reports of a break-up, referring to her as “my girl” in a celebratory tweet lauding her Luxembourg Open victory on Sunday.
McIlroy, who himself finished second in the Kolon Korean Open on Sunday, send out a tweet praising tennis player Wozniacki on the 21st title of her professional career after she defeated Annika Beck in straight sets.
“#21 #luxembourg #mygirl @CaroWozniacki,” the charming golfer tweeted. Neither of the pair confirmed the rumoured split, while Wozniacki still uses a photograph of her and McIlroy together as her Twitter profile picture.
Wozniacki, currently ranked ninth in the world, completed a confidence-building week in which she only lost one set by dominating throughout against her 19-year-old opponent.
She wrapped up the match in 1hr 14min to secure her first title this year.
McIlroy, meanwhile, fought back from 10 shots off the lead to share second place in Korea, playing some remarkable golf including five birdies in his four-under-par round to end one behind winner Kang Sung-hoon.
It was a strong finish after what had been a frustrating third day for the world No 6 at the Woo Jeong Hills Country Club course near Cheonan.
The only blemish in the final round for McIlroy, who was playing his first tournament for a month, was a bogey at the 16th. He said: “I could have shot anything, absolutely anything. I only missed two greens and had so many chances, but it was like the story of yesterday – I just didn’t hole enough putts. I created so many more chances today that it could have been 61, 62. It just wasn’t to be. I didn’t birdie any of the par fives, which was disappointing.”
The tournament ended in bizarre circumstances after a controversial penalty for Kim Hyung-tae gave Kang victory. Overnight leader Kim was on course for victory standing on the 17th tee but was told by an official he had been penalised two strokes for grounding a club in an area deemed to be a hazard on the 13th hole.
Diving in at the deep end is no excuse for shirking the style stakes
