Kristen Stewart -

The 23-year-old Twilight star has just enrolled at the University of California in Los Angeles to study English Literature, alongside filming a new war movie, called Camp X-Ray. She left school at the age of 13 to be home-schooled on film sets, most famously working with Jodie Foster in Panic Room.

Dakota Fanning -

Another Twilight star putting her head in the books is Dakota Fanning, who is studying at New York University. However, the star has already had problems with people who found her email address on the university system. She joins The Six Sense star Haley Joel Osment, and Disney twins Dylan and Cole Sprouse on the NYU campus.

Emma Watson -

Famously known as the studious Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films, the actress enrolled for a four-year course at the Ivy League institution Brown University in 2009. However, she later left the university - not because of bullying rumours as was suggested - but to further pursue her film career. She enrolled at Oxford University to study literature this year.

Miranda Cosgrove -

Teenage Nickelodeon star Miranda Cosgrove, known for her leading role in iCarly started undergraduate studies at the University of Southern California last August. It's her first time in formal education since she was a child, growing up she was tutored on the film sets where she worked.

James Franco -

Known for numerous Hollywood movie roles, including Harry Osborn in Spiderman, Franco went to the University of California in LA to study English honours. As if that wasn't enough of an education for him he then went back to Columbia university to study for a Masters in Fine Arts.

Shakira -

Grammy Award Winner Shakira enrolled in a history of western civilization course at the University of California in Los Angles (a popular university choice for stars). Reportedly she went by a different name so she would be less recognisable, hiding her recognisable looks under caps and a succession of bags.

Eva Longoria -

Desperate Housewives star and model Eva Longoria received a Master’s degree in Chicago Studies from the Californian State University. She also gained Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology at Texas A&M University. She has said in interviews that you are never too old or to busy to continue education.

Jodie Foster -

Jodie Foster first appeared on out TV screens at the age of three as she was featured in commercials. At the age of just 13 she became famous for the 1976 film Taxi Driver. Her love for literature saw the multi-award winning actress accept a place at Yale University.

Michael Jordan -

The Brooklyn born basketball star nicknamed “Air Jordan” left school to play the sport he is known globally for. He became the most well known NBA player, and gained the reputation of being one of the best defenders in basketball, however, he went back to study at North Carolina-Chapel Hill and earned a degree in geography.

Steven Spielberg -

As a mature student, the man behind Jaws and E.T. Steven Speilberg returned to California State University three decades after dropping out. He earned a Bachelor of Arts at the age of 55. As one of the most influential film personalities in film history Speilberg proves that you are never too clever or old to study.
