The invitation to the show was a plastic polar bear and the entry card called for the species to be saved, so it was of little surprise that the hottest ticket at the ready-to-wear shows in Paris came with an environmental message too.

Pandora: Suralan's seat stays empty at conference
Friday 02 October 2009
While the Labour Party's promise of "special VIP" attendances at this week's conference might have been something of an exaggeration, organisers still managed to impress by convincing Lesley Garrett and Jo Brand to provide the entertainment for Tuesday's gala dinner in Brighton. What are you wearing right now?
A silk maxi-dress by Maje with a studded Acne denim jacket (that I just cut the sleeves off) and gladiator sandals. Accessories-wise, I'm busting a plaited headband, an Annina Vogel charm necklace and tons of random bangles. I think I'm having a Stevie-Nicks-meets-the-Hell's-Angels moment!

Ready to Wear: Can thigh-high boots ever be right on?
Monday 16 March 2009
And so to the accessory of the autumn/winter season, which may have been a restrained if lovely affair, at least in some designers' hands, but more than made up for any conservatism in dress as far as footwear is concerned. Enter the thigh-high boot.
Dom Joly: Love your neighbour, but not when they dob you in
Sunday 22 February 2009
I have as little time for the Home Secretary, Jacqui Smith, as for the rest of this crumbling Labour government – actually maybe even a little less, since she is in charge of the terrifying erosion of our liberties that is going on under the watchful gaze of six million CCTV cameras. I did, however, feel a little sorry for her last week.
