Ever anxious to salvage its reputation, Carlton TV has secured the rights to 48 short stories by the author of The Birds and Don't Look Now, Daphne du Maurier (above).

In case anyone starts fantasising that the TV dramatisations might be on a par with the afore-mentioned films, remember that this is the company that gave the world London Bridge, the late-night, er, drama, currently set to return as a twice-weekly primetime soap...
