Knox tells Obama's agent: now I'll sell my story

Amanda Knox is planning to sell her story of her murder trial after hiring a literary agent to negotiate what she hopes will be a lucrative book deal.

Ms Knox, 24, has asked Robert Barnett, an attorney based in Washington DC, to act for her in discussions with publishers.

He has previously masterminded autobiography deals for Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, George W Bush and Tony Blair as well as Sarah Palin's deal with Fox News. In Ms Knox, he has another much sought-after name on his hands.

The American former exchange student has not given a proper interview since she and ex-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito had their convictions for murdering her British flatmate Meredith Kercher overturned by an Italian court.

Ms Knox immediately returned to her hometown of Seattle in Washington state.

Media experts believe the memoirs could earn her a seven-figure sum.

As well as offering her take on the events that led up to Ms Kercher's death in Perugia, central Italy, in November 2007, she is also expected to draw heavily on diaries she kept during her subsequent incarceration.

Her family is understood to have spent nearly £650,000 on legal fees and travelling costs – remortgaging their homes and using up their life savings – in the campaign to secure her release.

She served four years of a 26-year sentence before being freed.

Rudy Guede is currently serving a 16-year prison term after being found guilty of sexually assaulting and murdering Ms Kercher.
