She wrote some of our most-loved children's books back in the Sixties and Seventies and now, Judith Kerr has announced the release of a new illustrated novel.

The Tiger Who Came to Tea, Mog and When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit author may be 92, but she has proved that age is but a number with the announcement of Mister Cleghorn's Seal, due out on 10 September this year.

Kerr's first words and pictures book since A Small Person Far Away in 1978 is inspired by a tale her German-Jewish father Alfred once told her about the time he found an abandoned seal pup and raised it on his balcony.

Mr Cleghorn finds Charlie the pup while on a trip to the seaside and they embark on a "charmingly chaotic adventure" together.

There will be multiple editions of Mister Cleghorn's Seal, a hardback version and an audiobook voiced by Bill Nighy with an afterword from Kerr.
