Our True Intent is all For Your Delight,
This edition of Butlin's photographs, collated by Martin Parr, coincides with Butlin's 75th anniversary.
John Hinde was a pioneer in colour photography and by the 1960s was running one of the world's most successful postcard publishers. These pictures were taken for his firm during the holiday camp's heyday. There are ornately decorated bars with grass-skirted waitresses; tropical indoor pools and slightly colder looking outdoor pools spanned by futuristic monorails. This cover image of the new edition shows a pool at Mosney taken by Elmar Ludwig.
