The literary-minded psychoanalyst Stephen Grosz thinks that novelist Karen Blixen had a point when she wrote: "All sorrows can be borne if you put them in a story, or tell a story about them."
Over the course of his 25-year theraputic career he encouraged his patients to do just that. Here he shares some of the most instructive tales from his consulting room, and they prove far more riveting than most fiction.
His conclusion: "...all change involves loss, and yet life itself is change – we are always giving up something for something else..."
