WHAT WITH all the excitement over the Proms, it's easy to overlook some really excellent summer musical events. One that should not be missed is the London Masterclasses. Organised over the past 10 years by pianist Norma Fischer, the event, which begins today and lasts throughout the week, brings together eminent musicians, including tenor Stuart Burrows (today's masterclass), cellist Ralph Kirshbaum, violinist Grigori Zhislin and conductor Benjamin Zander. It's a truly rare opportunity to see great music in the making.

St Cyprian's Church, Glentworth Street, London NW1 (info: 0181-346 7088) masterclasses pounds 7, concerts pounds 8

And what about a bit of Mozart to spice up a summer evening? British Youth Opera perform a fully staged version of Cosi fan tutte tonight (in English). Best of all, tickets are just a fiver.-
