THE COMPLEX @ the blue note

The Blue Note's flagship Saturday night celebrates its second year at this multi-level venue. Regulars at Camouflage know this was the venue's best gig before it changed names to The Complex. More than 1,500 punters cram four floors, sampling a wide range of tunes and live music. The queues get large around the witching hour as the club is usually full, so those wishing to get in should do so early. DJ Spoony headlines on the garage floor.

Saturday, 1-5 Parkfield St, London N1 (0171-288 1986) 10pm-5am, pounds 10

FRESH N FUNKY @ hanover grand

If you like your bass deep then beat a path to Hanover Street this Wednesday, for the event that received a "best club" nomination at last week's MOBO Awards. Featuring rhythm and blues and hip hop with a dash of drum 'n' bass, this gig is popular with the black community, who make up about 70 per cent of the punters - always a good sign. No dress code and no attitude, it's a steal at the price. Arrive early, or have your best guest-list lines ready.

Wednesdays, 6 Hanover St, London W1 (0171-499 7977) 10pm-3am, pounds 5 before 11pm
