The Independent Theatre Award was established in 1988. The award aims to give recognition and also the practical assistance of a London showcase to a new production that the judges consider to be deserving of a wider audience. The London showcase takes the form of an autumn run at the Hampstead Theatre, London. There will be two shortlists published in the Independent at the end of the first and second weeks of the festival, and the winner will be announced in the third week. Watch this space for further details.
