In this spectacular adaptation of the Book of Revelation, actor Stephen Shank presents two cities. One is the modern metropolis in which John, a bin-riffling hobo and clairvoyant, eats and shelters among the waste. The other is the New Jerusalem of his vision. There are stretches of the play when, despite the energy and detail of Shank's performance, the relationship between the two worlds is hard to spot. But at those moments when the stories intertwine, the performance reaches a magical intensity. As the play gathers pace and approaches its apocalyptic climax, the pathos of John's position becomes overwhelming and he leaves the stage with the audience's heart in his hands. By Trafalgar Hall (venue 63), St Anthony's Place, off Broughton Road (031- 554 0290). 8.15pm. To 29 Aug.
