Edinburgh Festival: Mirjam / Crawling from the Wreckage
One essential prop links these short plays exploring the post-war reintegration of female Auschwitz survivors: a cast-iron bed, where the women's experiences come back to them. Crawling from the Wreckage conveys the nightmare almost exclusively through monologues, which is perhaps why Mirjam is more successful: the actors say 'Remember me' in four different languages, but their silent chest-beating and pointing are far more eloquent.
Demarco's (venue 22), St Mary's School, Albany St (031-558 3371). 4.15pm to 3 Sept (not 21-28 Aug)
