One-Man Breaking Bad

One man, one hour, all six seasons. Miles Allen sold out his run at the Melbourne Comedy Festival and has had more than a million hits on YouTube for his spookily accurate impressions of Walter White, Saul and Skyler. One for fans, or those who haven’t got round to buying the box-set.

1 to 11 August, The Famous Spiegeltent, St Andrew Square (0844 693 3008)

Come Heckle Christ

Ever wanted to heckle Jesus? Now’s your chance as the Australian comedian Josh Ladgrove dons a crown of thorns and mounts a cross for this hour-long improvised show.

31 July to 24 August, Pleasance Courtyard (0131 556 6550)

Circus

A late-night circus featuring some of the Fringe’s finest off-beat acts. Produced by The Invisible Dot and held in a mini big top, the line-up includes Tony Law as the lion tamer and Lloyd Langford and James Acaster as clowns.

31 July to 25 August, Assembly George Square (0131 226 0000)

50 Shades! The Musical

If you really must see an E L James parody this summer, better make it this one. It arrives in Edinburgh wreathed in praise from off-Broadway. The New York Times found it “exuberant and entertaining.”

31 July to 25 August, Assembly Hall (0131 623 3030)

Simon Munnery Sings Soren Kierkegaard

The wonderfully weird Simon Munnery has previously hosted a “conceptual restaurant” (without food) at the Fringe. In this year’s eccentric innovation he will perform writings by the existential Danish philosopher, apparently.

30 July to 15 August, The Stand (01315587272)

You have to forgive me…

In which an audience of one is invited into Brian Lobel’s bed to watch an episode of Sex and the City and discuss the legacy of Carrie Bradshaw and the limits of human intimacy.

7 August, Drill Hall, Forest Fringe (www.forestfringe.co.uk)
