Amid speculation that Guillermo del Toro might direct a movie about the monster hunter character Van Helsing after backing away from The Hobbit due to studio delays, the director said he will only announce his plans at Comic-Con.
On his official fan site deltorofilms.com, he said things were still uncertain about a Van Helsing project, and posted a statement that upcoming plans will be shared only at ComicCon:
I am taking it slowly and marking very, very carefully the calendar of projects that I will be involved [in] as producer, writer, etc, I will not announce the project I intend to direct until then. I am very happy to say that all the projects and partnerships being considered are both quite surprising and, I hope, powerful. I will be shopping on the floor in San Diego for several days. See you there!!
The 41st annual Comic-Con International conference, July 22-25, at the San Diego Convention Center is an annual event for comics, graphic books and anime fans. It will also feature blockbuster footage presentations from the Green Hornet to the Green Lantern, sci-fi and fantasy television shows.
