Actors Guild awards highlight frontrunners for possible Oscar wins

Another event in the award show season, following the Golden Globes and Critics' Choice awards, was the weekend's 16th annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards in Los Angeles. After votes from 100,000 active members, the organization's top winners were Inglourious Basterds, Sandra Bullock and Jeff Bridges.

Bullock beat out Meryl Streep, while others maintained their frontrunner status, making them appear to be leading contenders if not locks for the Academy Awards. Echoing the choices of the previous awards, momentum builds for these recipients as industry favorites.

The winners of the Screen Actors Guild Awards are:

Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture: Inglorious Basterds

Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role in a Motion Picture: Sandra Bullock - The Blind Side

Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role in a Motion Picture:
Jeff Bridges - Crazy Heart

Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture
Mo'nique - Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push' by Sapphire

Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture
Christoph Waltz - Inglorious Basterds

The Television Awards also reflected the Golden Globes winners:

Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series for Television:
Michael C. Hall - Dexter

Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series for Television:
Julianna Margulies - The Good Wife

Also in the television category, Glee and Mad Men won ensemble cast awards for comedy and drama, respectively. 30 Rock took actor (Alec Baldwin) and actress (Tina Fey) awards.
