The Grinch - Official Trailer

The people who flooded the world with Minions, Illumination Entertainment, are taking on a Dr. Seuss classic.

However you may feel about the Jim Carrey version, a first trailer for the studio's new animated take on The Grinch sees Benedict Cumberbatch voice the legendary grump.

This version certainly seems to live up to the "You're a Mean One" moniker, as the trailer sees him wander through Whoville to ruin as many days as possible.

He also doesn't seem to be much of a fan of the Pharrell song "Happy"; perhaps because he recognises the fact it comes from Despicable Me 2, and that surely the Minions would only live to be his mortal enemies. Or that it's a particularly audacious piece of inter-franchise promotion.

The Secret Life of Pets director Yarrow Cheney helms the film alongside frequent Kevin Smith collaborator Scott Mosier, with Michael LeSieur on writing duty.
