Comic Con 2015 line-up: From Game of Thrones and Sherlock to Star Wars and The Hunger Games – what to expect at the best panels

Comic fans have a hectic schedule to look forward to in San Diego

Comic-Con has kicked off in San Diego and there's a host of treats lined up for fans over the weekend. From the always popular Game of Thrones Q&A to a behind-the-scenes look at Star Wars: The Force Awakens, expect new trailers, intriguing hints, special guests and exciting cast announcements from some of the biggest films, TV shows.

Attendance has topped 130,000 in recent years, making Comic-Con the largest annual fan convention in the world. Sadly not all of us can jet across to the states, but we're hoping our handy schedule of highlights complete with UK timings will give you an idea of what to look out for and when. Here goes...

Thursday

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 (12-1.15pm US, 8-9.15pm UK, Hall H)

Lionsgate are promising an exclusive first look at the final chapter from Katniss, Peeta and pals. It's going to be big, it's going to be epic, and it's not one to miss. There will be never-before-seen footage along with a cast and filmmaker Q&A to answer all your most burning questions. Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemseworth, Willow Shields, director Francis Lawrence and producer Nina Jacobson are all attending. May the odds be ever in your favour for getting into this one.

Doctor Who (2.15-3.15pm US, 10.15-11.15pm UK, Hall H)

Will Jenna Coleman be back after season nine? That's what everyone wants to know, but whether they'll be any official news on that one remains to be seen. Coleman is set to appear on the panel along with lead star Peter Capaldi, Michelle Gomez and exec producer Steven Moffat. There will probably be a trailer, hopefully a premiere date and if you're lucky some hints about the upcoming storyline.

Sherlock (3.45-4.45pm US, 11.45-12.45am UK, Ballroom 20

Fans were gifted with a new photo from the one-off Victorian special today but there hasn't been nearly enough Sherlock news of late. Sure, we have to wait ages between series, but we're always hungry for updates. Co-creator Steven Moffat is joined by exec producer Sue Vertue and actor Rupert Graces to discuss the super sleuth's latest adventures. No word on Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch but it's unlikely what with the Cumberbaby and all that, sorry.

The Most Dangerous Women at Comic-Con: The Good, the Bad and the Deadly (5-6pm US, 1-2am UK, Room25ABC)

It's time to discuss the best female villains out there and their dire lack of representations both in comic books and on-screen. There's a stellar line-up of ass-kicking women ready to take your questions and debate the main issues, including Justice League's Susan Eisenberg and Legion of Leia founder Jenna Busch.

Friday

The Walking Dead (12-1pm US, 8-9pm UK, Hall H)

The zombies will be taking over the lunch hour with Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Lauren Cohan, Steven Yeun and many more scheduled to join the AMC show's panel. The shocking season five finale will be a talking point, along with what to look forward to in season six, a sneak preview and Q&A session.

Game of Thrones (2.30-3.30pm US, 10.30-11.30 UK, Hall H)

George RR Martin won't be there as he's too busy trying to finish The Winds of Winter, but a panel made up of Alfie Allen, John Bradley, Gwendoline Christie, Natalie Dormer, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams and more will be answering your questions, and trying to keep as much concealed as possible. Is Jon Snow really dead? Don't expect a confirmation either way from this lot.

Lucasfilm (5.30-6.30pm US, 1.30-2.30am UK, Hall H)

This is going to be all about Star Wars: The Force Awakens, surely? Director JJ Abrams will be there with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and writer Lawrence Kasdan. Some 'special guests' have been invited too - hopefully some cast members. There are rumours of behind-the-scenes footage and maybe a new teaser clip.

Saturday

Warner Bros (10.30-12pm US, 6.30-8pm UK, Hall H)

Expect all sorts of bit DC superheroes news from the Warner Bros team this morning. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zak Snyder is on the panel along with actors Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Jesse Eisenberg and Gal Gadot. Then there's the Pan team including Hugh Jackman and Garrett Hedlund. It's going to be awesome so watch out Marvel (the studio passed on Comic-Con this year).

The Simpsons (12-12.45pm US, 8-8.45pm UK, Ballroom 20)

Exec producers Al Jean and Matt Selman join creator Matt Groening ahead of our favourite yellow family's 27th season (27th!). If anyone's still interested in Homer and co that is...

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (12.15-1.15pm US, 8.15-9.15pm UK, Hall H)

It's Jane Austen...with a massive freaky-as twist. Elizabeth Bennet is now a martial arts master and Mr Darcy a zombie killer. It's going to get weird. The cast, including Lily James, Sam Riley, Douglas Booth and Matt Smith, joins writer and director Burr Steers and book author Seth Grahame-Smith for a first look and questions.

The Hateful Eight (1.30-2.15pm US, 9.30-10.15pm UK, Hall H)

Quentin Tarantino is back with his 8th film after all that hoo-hah over the leaked script last year. Once again there will be a Q&A with the cast so here's hoping the master of bloody violence keeps his temper.

Spotlight on Stan Lee (1.45-2.45pm US, 9.45-10.45pm UK, Room 6A)

He co-created the likes of Spider-Man, Hulk, Iron Man, the-X-Men and Thor and now Stan Lee is in San Diego ready to talk about his career and answer fans' questions. Unmissable.

20th Century Fox (5.45-7pm US, 1.45-3am UK, Hall H)

Fox will likely lead this event with Fantastic Four, due out soon, but fans will also be hoping for tidbits from X-Men: Apocalypse and Deadpool.

Sunday

Heroes Reborn (1.45-2.45pm US, 9.45-10.45pm UK, Hall H)

Is it a good idea? We're not convinced, but this is NBC's chance to prove the doubters wrong. There will be a new trailer for the reboot while creator Tim Kring and his cast will be available to discuss any queries.
