Emma Stone didn't know about Spider-Man
Emma Stone didn't know about 'Spider-Man' before signing up to star in it.
The 22-year-old actress plays love interest Gwen Stacy in the forthcoming 'The Amazing Spider-Man' prequel - starring Andrew Garfield as the web-slinging hero - and Emma reveals she knew very little and had to do her research to understand more about the Marvel comic universe, as her only experience was Halloween-based.
She said: "I didn't know too much about Spider-Man other than watching the first three movies and every Halloween spending time with boys who were dressed up as him! I definitely wanted to learn about Spider-Man and Gwen and also about the Marvel universe and the world I was about to enter into."
Despite her lack of knowledge, Emma managed to quickly get involved in the story, mostly thanks to how good an actor Andrew was. She told Empire Online: "I don't know how to explain it, but he is Peter Parker. He inhabits it in a way I've never seen before. I don't mean with Peter Parker, I mean with an actor, inhabiting a role that I've worked with been involved with.
"In a split second he goes from 27 to 17. It was really amazing to watch and react to. I just had to react to his Peter."
'The Amazing Spider-Man' - directed by Marc Webb - is due in cinemas in summer 2012.
