Fast & Furious 8 (known in the US as The Fate of the Furious) was always intended to be the first of a final trilogy of films, and it seems lead actor Vin Diesel has had his wish granted.

The latest instalment has outdone expectation by scoring the highest-grossing opening weekend of all time, its achievement of $500 million helped substantially by its mass international appeal, and so Fast & Furious 9 and 10 have been confirmed for 19 April 2019 and 2 April 2021, respectively.

While it's expected that the majority of the ensemble will return, the only two to have been reportedly confirmed so far are Diesel and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson who found themselves at the centre of a feud during the eighth film's production last summer.

While it was reported that Universal was keeping the two actors apart on the film's press tour, Diesel later poured water on the feud with Johnson making it clear the two had made up.

The Fast & Furious franchise also stars Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris 'Ludacris' Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jason Statham, Scott Eastwood, Kurt Russell and Charlize Theron who is expected to reprise her role of the villainous Cypher.

Writer Chris Morgan recently broke down Fast & Furious 8's standout scene which involves Jason Statham, a plane and a baby.
