Fans longing for another season of The Wire, your hopes of a reunion between stars Idris Elba and Dominic West has come true, just not in the way you probably expected.

The pair - who faced off in the HBO series - are set to voice ‘Guy Ritchie-type East London gangster sea lions’ in the upcoming Finding Nemo spin-off, Finding Dory.

"Idris and Dominic are well-trained, dramatic, Shakespearean actors, but they can do comedy like nobody’s business," director Andrew Stanton told USA Today. "They just ran with it. They played jolly and lazy really well.

"But the truth is, I really wanted to witness a Wire reunion. So we got them together.”

Along with revealing who the two stars would play in the film, numerous other characters set to appear alongside Ellen DeGeneres’ Dory have also been released, including Bailey the beluga whale (voiced by Ty Burrell), Destiny the whale shark with bad eye-sight, and Becky the Loon. Check them all out in the gallery below.

"The ocean is teeming with literally millions of species. People don’t want to feel like they just spent the movie in a pond," Stanton added. "There are just certain species of animals or fish that are fun to watch in real life and you can’t help but to throw a character on them. If they can find a home in Dory’s story, great. It’s a win-win.”

Finding Dory reaches cinemas 17 June later this year.
