Gerard Butler has been taken to hospital following a motorcycle crash.

The accident occurred after the actor was cut off by a car while driving his motorcycle around LA, causing him to crash, according to TMZ. He was taken to hospital by paramedics to be treated for his injuries.

Luckily, sources claim the injuries are only minor ("no broken bones... just cuts and bruises"), and the actor will still be able to promote his upcoming film Geostorm, set to hit cinemas on Friday.

The 300 star has been a long-time motorcycle enthusiast and was riding a Harley Davidson when the accident took place.

Geostorm sees Butler star as the architect behind an elaborate natural disaster defense system, which sees a series of climate-controlling satellites surrounding Earth, centered around the International CIimate Space Station.

However, a malfunction in the system creates a global storm of epic proportions, and scientists must band together to save the world from utter destruction.
