Kingsman: The Secret Service sequel gets release date as Taron Egerton confirmed to return

Kingsman: The Secret Service 2 has finally been given a release date after months of umming and ahhing over when the actors could shoot.

Matthew Vaughn is already busy writing the sequel to hist hit spy caper, which reaches US cinemas on 16 June 2017. There is no word yet on when the film might arrive in the UK, but the first one came nearly half a month earlier so fans will be hoping the trend is continued.

It remains unknown whether Vaughn will direct again or pass his script on to a replacement, while storyline details are being kept tightly under wraps.

Taron Egerton is definitely returning in the lead as Gary ‘Eggsy’ Unwin, the street kid protege taken on and trained by Colin Firth’s dapper secret agent Harry Hart in the original movie.

Clashes in Egerton’s schedule had threatened to delay the second movie but filming on his next movie Robin Hood: Origins has since been pushed back to summer 2016 so that the 25-year-old can star in both.

Earlier reports suggested that Egerton was contracted for a sequel meaning 20th Century Fox had the right to take him when they needed him regardless of his other commitments.

Shooting on Kingsman 2 is scheduled to begin in April. The first film grossed more than $400 million at the global box office earlier this year and was a huge hit in South Korea, where it earned more than $45 million.
