Margaret Qualley has spoken out following abuse allegations against her ex-boyfriend Shia LaBeouf.

In December, the British musician and actor FKA twigs, real name Tahliah Barnett, filed a lawsuit against LaBeouf, accusing him of sexual battery, assault and infliction of emotional distress.

Qualley, who is the daughter of actor Andie MacDowell, was dating LaBeouf when the allegations were first made and was pictured with the actor in the days after. However, the pair reportedly split in January (via E! News).

Having not previously commented on the allegations, Qualley broke her silence on Saturday (20 February) as she reshared twigs’ recent Elle magazine cover on her Instagram feed.

The Once Upon a Time in Hollywood star simply captioned the post: “Thank you,” tagging twigs in the post.

The Independent has contacted LaBeouf’s representatives for comment.

In the Elle interview, twigs spoke at length about her alleged experiences with LaBeouf, who she co-starred in the 2019 film Honey Boy with.

Describing the relationship as “hands down, the worst thing [I’ve experienced] in the whole of my life”, she claimed that LaBeouf would become jealous over her behaviour with friends and strangers.

“One time, he heard me laughing on FaceTime with my friend. He came in and had a massive argument with me because he said he doesn’t make me laugh like that,” she recalled.

“So then I had to hide laughing with my friends. It’s [about] isolation, so I don’t talk to my friends. He hated that I had an experience to myself [with] something that didn’t involve him, a memory that gave me joy.”

LaBeouf, who is reportedly receiving care at an inpatient treatment facility, initially told The New York Times in response to the lawsuit that he had “no excuses for my alcoholism or aggression”.

However, last week, his lawyers said the 34-year-old denies “each and every allegation” made by twigs in the original lawsuit.
