Oscars red carpet 2018: Rita Moreno wears same dress she wore to 1962 Academy Awards
This is the dress she wore when she won an Oscar 56 years ago
Rita Moreno went to the 90th Academy Awards wearing the same dress she wore in 1962.
The 86-year-old icon returned to the Oscars donning her memorable black and gold gown from the 1962 ceremony.
It was that year Moreno won the award for Best Supporting Actress for starring in West Side Story.
The legendary gown was designed the late Filipino designer Pitoy Moreno who passed away on January 15.
The dress stands out for its "obi" fabric, which was used in Japanese kimonos.
It's been 56 years since she wore the dress, but it's remained completely intact.
She did make a slight change: the dress, which was once a sleeveless and boat-neck was transformed into a strapless number.
"You think it would tarnish! It’s been hanging in my closet," Moreno said of her look to Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet.
The One Day at a Time star was at the ceremony on Sunday night to present an award.
Moreno's look gained quite the attention on social media.
One user said, "Long live Rita Moreno."
While another said, "Rita Moreno is wearing the same dress she wore in 1962. Meanwhile I can't fit in 2017's pajama pants."
It's unanimous: Moreno's look definitely stole the red carpet.
