Even though Rogue One has only been out for a mere few days, we're going to go ahead and assume you've already seen the Star Wars prequel.
If so, it's a sure bet that the lead character Jyn Erso - played by British actor Felicity Jones - is one of your favourite protagonists of the year; the good news is it may not have been the last you've seen of her.
This may be confusing considering the prequel charts the fatal events which take place ahead of the events of Episode IV: A New Hope (the ones you see described in that film's opening crawl). Even LucasFilm president Kathleen Kennedy ruled out any chance of a sequel, no matter how overwhelming the film's box office takings.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, we will probably see Erso's character again with Jones reportedly having one sequel option in her contract. Quite how this would happen is unknown but speculation suggests we could see her feature alongside a young Luke Skywalker in a future prequel.

Next up is the as-of-yet untitled Episode VIII from Rian Johnson (Brick, Looper) followed by the young Han Solo film which will star Alden Ehrenreich and Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian
