A new trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens is expected to debut before Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron next spring.

Huge excitement was sparked online by the first 88-second glimpse at JJ Abram’s upcoming seventh instalment last week, which showcased three new lead actors, a flashy lightsaber and the iconic Millennium Falcon.

If SlashFilm’s report is correct, fans only need wait six months for another teaser (until 1 May 2015 to be precise) and that’s if no others are unveiled first.

There is some speculation around the Super Bowl and whether or not Disney will choose to premiere a new Star Wars trailer to its huge TV audience. Then there’s the live action remake of Cinderella, due out in March, which could carry a Star Wars clip with it.

The first Star Wars teaser is on track to become the most viewed trailer of all-time having notched up a massive 58.2 million YouTube views since it dropped on 28 November.

Since its release, the clip has been widely praised, criticised and parodied, including by one YouTube user who impressively recreated it scene for scene in Lego.

Original cast members Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher are returning to their roles as Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia respectively while John Boyega, Daisy Ridley and Oscar Isaac bring fresh talent to the hit sci-fi franchise.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set to reach UK cinemas on 18 December 2015.
