Star Wars: Watch Jeff Goldblum, 50 Cent and more audition for young Han Solo

It's kind of a dream Hollywood story.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller, directors of the untitled young Han Solo movie, auditioned nearly 1,000 actors to take up Harrison Ford's iconic role. Turns out, the perfect man for the job was the very first to have walked into the room, Alden Ehrenreich.

Conan O'Brien decided to take a jab at the whole elaborate process of the Star Wars casting room; airing a spoof series of auditions from an unlikely string of candidates. First up, Bill "NO NOTES!" Hader fails to impress with his surly teen take on the character, Will Arnett takes the opportunity to remind us that he's Batman (of the LEGO variety) and Melissa McCarthy reveals a desperate lack of knowledge.

Next up, Silicon Valley's Thomas Middleditch lets nerves get the best of him, Jodie "F*cking" Foster proves too cool for the job, Adam Sandler does Adam Sandler... stuff, Kumail Nanjiani doesn't want to hear the odds, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson makes a surprise appearance and Jeff Goldblum is so essentially himself that it kind of seems like he's actually auditioning for the part.

Probably a good thing Lord and Miller went for their first option, then.

And it looks as if we may be getting plenty more of Ehrenreich's Han Solo in the future, with reports the actor has signed up to a whole trilogy (at least) of films for the character.
