Matt Reeves’ film The Batman has become the latest Hollywood blockbuster to be pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The movie, which will star Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, will now be released four months after its original release date, on 1 October.

The Batman also stars Zoe Kravitz, Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis and Colin Farrell.

Fans will likely be unsurprised by the news, as studio Warner Bros has moved a number of projects back in recent weeks.

The Sopranos prequel film The Many Saints of Newark, which was scheduled for a September release, has now been moved to March 2021.

Meanwhile, the sequel to superhero film Shazam has been pushed back seven months to November 2022.

Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Presley biopic, starring Austin Butler and Tom Hanks, has been delayed by a month to November 2021.

King Richard, a sport drama about the father of tennis players Venus and Serena Williams, will now arrive in cinemas a year after its initial release date, in November 2021.

Other major films to be affected by the pandemic include James Bond movie No Time to Die, Disney’s live-action Mulan, and Top Gun: Maverick.
