Following the trend of numerically named Western films (The Hateful Eight, The Ridiculous Six etc), The Magnificent Seven is set to hit cinemas later this year.

Featuring a gun slinging Denzel Washington, a rum drinking Chris Pratt and a sharpshooting Ethan Hawke, the Antoine Fuqua-directed film has received its first trailer.

Mixing humour and bombastic action, the film is set to be more like Marvel’s superhero films than Quentin Tarantino’s recent Western.

Making up the rest of the Seven is Daredevil’s Vincent D’Onofrio, Terminator Genisys’s Lee Byung-hun, Manuel Garcia Rulfo, Martin Sensmeier, and Peter Sarsgaard.

Also set to appear in the film is Sean Bridgers, Haley Bennett and - according to reports - Vinnie Jones. Recently, set photos have appeared online, showing the cast in action.

The film is a remake of the 1960 Western of the same name, itself a remake of the Japanese classic Seven Samurai. The US remake spawned numerous sequels, including Return of the Seven and Guns of the Magnificent Seven. There was also a TV series of the same name that ran between 1998 and 2000.

The Magnificent Seven will hit cinemas 23 September.
