Underwire: short film festival celebrates the talents of women

The UK's only short film festival dedicated to showcasing the cinematic talents of women will launch their third annual festival this week.

From 20 to 24 November at The Ritzy Cinema in Brixton, London, the Underwire Film Festival 2012 will feature work by short filmakers, panel discussions and a filmed comedy showcase.

UnderWire is hosting a day of affordable industry events on Saturday 24 November. Sessions include Walking the Wire, a marathon workshop providing practical information vital for women working inthe creative and media industries and Script, Shoot, Slice, Screen, which will examine the practicalities of making a short film.

The Art of Science, sponsored by the Wellcome Trust is a programme of biomedical shorts, made by women and Why Women Canʼt Make Features is the controversial title of the panel debate including Carol Morley (Dreams of a Life).
